#WeStandWithThePeopleOfIran
27 January 2026
Assalāmu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullāhi wa Barakātuh
Bismillāhir Raḥmānir Raḥīm
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon all His Messengers—from Nabi Ādam (ʿalayhis salām), to Nabi ʿĪsā (ʿalayhis salām), to Nabi Muḥammad ﷺ—upon their families, companions, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
We, at the Institute for Islamic Services of South Africa, express our solidarity with the people of Iran as they strive to uphold their dignity, sovereignty, and right to self-determination.
We acknowledge the resilience and courage of ordinary men and women who continue to endure hardship while standing firm in the face of immense pressure and instability.
At the same time, we strongly condemn the loss of innocent lives—whether scholars, professionals, leaders, or civilians—and the ongoing destabilisation that has brought fear, grief, and uncertainty to the region. History has shown that external interference, covert manipulation, and geopolitical agendas have repeatedly contributed to unrest, suffering, and division within Muslim lands.
We affirm the right of people to live safely, to express themselves peacefully, and to assemble without fear, intimidation, or foreign coercion. Stability, justice, and dignity can never be achieved through chaos, bloodshed, or exploitation.
It is a painful reality that many challenges faced by the Ummah arise not only from external forces, but also from divisions and betrayals within. Yet this is not new. The Messengers of Allah (peace be upon them all) faced rejection, hostility, and opposition from both outside and within their own communities—yet patience, steadfastness, and reliance upon Allah ultimately led to truth prevailing.
To the people of Iran, we say: remain steadfast and upright. History reminds us that perseverance upon truth is never wasted.
We pray for relief for all oppressed people, unity for the Ummah, guidance for those in authority, and mercy for all innocent lives lost. May Allah grant justice where there is injustice, peace where there is turmoil, and wisdom where there is division.
May those who have passed away be enveloped in Allah’s mercy, and may He grant patience and strength to their families.
Āmīn.
