Beauty in Islam: A Reflection of Faith and Character

Beauty in Islam: A Reflection of Faith and Character
Located at the entrance of Laudium, Pretoria, Masjid al Haqq stands as a reminder of the beauty, dignity, and spiritual values encouraged in Islam.
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) beautifully said:
“Verily, Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty.”
(إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَمِيلٌ يُحِبُّ الْجَمَالَ)
This profound teaching highlights the importance of beauty in all aspects of a Muslim’s life—not only in outward appearance, but also in speech, actions, character, and surroundings. The Prophet (SAW) encouraged Muslims to maintain cleanliness, good grooming, neat clothing, and pleasant environments, while always remaining humble and free from arrogance.
In Islam, beauty is both inward and outward.
Inward Beauty
True beauty begins within the heart through:
Good character (Akhlaq)
Humility
Kindness
Sincerity
Respect for others
Outward Beauty
Islam also encourages believers to:
Maintain cleanliness
Dress neatly and modestly
Care for their environment
Present themselves with dignity and respect
These teachings remind us that faith should be reflected not only in worship, but also in the way we carry ourselves and interact with the world around us.
At the Institute for Islamic Services (IIS), we strive to promote these beautiful Islamic values within our communities—encouraging spiritual growth, moral excellence, and environments that reflect the mercy and beauty of Islam.
