Protecting Children from the Growing Threat of Hunger
Across many vulnerable communities in South Africa, children are increasingly bearing the greatest burden of poverty and food insecurity. As economic hardship continues to affect countless families, more children are becoming vulnerable to hunger, placing their health, development, and future at risk.
The Institute for Islamic Services (IIS) recognises the urgent need to respond to this growing humanitarian challenge. Through its Daily Feeding Schemes, the Institute provides nutritious meals to children and families in disadvantaged communities across Pretoria, helping to ensure that those most in need receive the nourishment and care they deserve.
Children are among the most vulnerable members of society. Without regular access to nutritious food, their physical growth, education, and overall well-being can be severely affected. By addressing immediate hunger, IIS strives not only to provide relief for today but also to help build healthier and stronger communities for tomorrow.
Inspired by the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Institute remains committed to serving humanity with compassion and mercy. Islam places great emphasis on caring for the poor, feeding the hungry, and protecting the vulnerable, values that continue to guide every humanitarian initiative undertaken by IIS.
